I was going to take the garbage out, and at first I didn't notice anything until I heard my mother say "Hey, look above the house. It must be Venus or Saturn." Sure enough, there was a massively bright speck in the sky; pure white, almost hurt to look at. It didn't exactly interest me, but as I was putting the garbage near the alley, I noticed a flickering light... and the possibility occurred that it could've been a satellite, but there were too many colors... red, then blue, then green, all in extremely rapid succession... then two.
Then three. And four. And five. People have made jokes about this sort of thing for the longest time, but eventually I could count twenty-three of these lights; some flashed every possible color in existence, some stayed one solid hue for seconds on end. Regardless of whether or not they flickered or flashed, dull or bright, I could not believe what I saw when looked deep into the navy blue expanse, but I knew one thing was certain... my existence in front of computers all across the city could never be the same after I looked up at the sky this one fateful evening...
...I see dead pixels.
